Erika Alsid Short, a partner with Chason, Rosner, Leary & Marshall LLC, is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association. Erika began her career as a Summer Associate with Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, LLP and transitioned to the position of Senior Litigation Associate, trying cases before the District and Circuit Courts of Maryland and numerous administrative hearings. In 2007, Erika joined Chason, Rosner, Leary & Marshall, LLC and became a partner in 2010.  Today, Erika focuses her practice on a broad range of matters before state, appellate and federal courts related to general, business, medical malpractice, hotel, estate, contract, premises liability and workers’ compensation litigation.

For more than two decades, Erika has guided clients through every aspect of litigation from pre-suit investigation and resolution to discovery, alternative dispute resolution, and trial before state, appellate and federal courts, and administrative hearings.  Every year since 2019, Erika has been selected for designation as a Maryland Super Lawyer®.  While there are over 40,000 lawyers in Maryland, only 5% are selected each year for inclusion by Maryland Super Lawyers®.   From 2009-2016, Erika was honored as a Maryland Super Lawyers® Rising Star.  Erika is the Past-President of the Maryland DC Society for Healthcare Risk Management, having served as President in 2021 and President-Elect in 2020.  She is also Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee, Maryland DC Society for Healthcare Risk Management.  Erika serves as an Assistant Grader, Maryland Board of Law Examiners.  MBLE is responsible for administering and grading the February and July Bar Exams in Maryland.  She also served pro bono as co-counsel in a complex death penalty case for seventeen years, specially appointed by the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
